Something to think about…

“We’re all a part of this infinite constellation.
Each of us like a single cell in the honeycomb.
And although, some individual pieces of a puzzle do not physically touch, they all form part of the grand mosaic art. Like bricks in a wall… the wall is made stronger by each brick. Remove one and the it all comes crashing down.
Though we may not realize it, the integrity of this wall is tested daily… but the wall holds because of everyone’s collective support and effort.” -Jake, Touch-Fox Network

Frequencies.

“The earth, as it rotates it emits a frequency (a musical note). This frequency is altered for an unknown reason, scientists theorize the disturbance to be from the sun’s solar flares. Another theory is that the over 7 billion souls that inhabit the earth, each produce their own frequency, their own music, or their harmony.” Jake, from “Touch”, Fox Network

All of us are.

Each and every one of us are healers. Think about it for a minute- have you ever hurt your finger or bumped your elbow or hit your toe accidentally? What’s the first thing you physically react with?

Your hand or hands go to cover the pain.

It is the instinct we all have to hold our pain with our hands. And our hands help to make the pain reduce or and also brings comfort and ease quickly. Take for instance another situation. When a child is hurt, or feels sad, or is insecure, they immediately seek their mother or father. The energy of the parent brings immediate comfort to the child… don’t we all even recall our childhood when this happened to us? It’s instinctive, and it’s a gift we all have. All of us.

It’s energy, and we’ve always used it… some find it amazing to realize, some deny it, and others have their own explanations for it. More and more people are taking classes to learn and actually get attunements as lightworkers. The fact is, we are all healers. Now, about this thing Reiki…..

How A Muscle works…

It’s probably the most taken for granted function we have each day, muscle movement! But do you know how a muscle actually works? It’s fascinating, and here is my attempt at simplifying it in basic terms. First of all, it’s about circulation… muscles and every single element of our body requires circulation- and if you’ve been reading this blog, you already understand why.

When a muscle is relaxed, and not ‘working’ (as we call it shortening/flexing), it’s like 2 pieces of velcro. One side of the muscle(actin), and the other side (myosin) are separated. When the muscle flexes, calcium releases and the two sides connect and slide closer together. The Actin fibers and the Myosin fibers actually move closer and closer and depending on the body’s request of strain and flexing, the fibers will and can tear from frequent and increased resistance demands. (this is partially the reason for muscle soreness). When the muscle goes back to resting position, the two sides unlock and normal levels of supplements like magnesium ensure a consistent relaxed state for the muscle.

Without circulation as you can see, the muscles will either remain locked/flexed or spasms and cramps will and do occur–Massage Therapy/Bodywork vastly enhance the circulation for new oxygenated blood and promotes natural, quick healing and induce the flushing of the old used depleted blood from the muscle, along with helping remove the build ups of lactic acid from the tired muscle.

The amazing thing about muscle activity is the fact that the nervous system orchestrates which muscles shorten/flex and which muscles relax/lengthen for a given movement. From the most simple of voluntary movements to the complex athletic demands we call for in whatever situation we are in–and the lightening fast ability for our muscles to shut off and relax or flex and behave all at the same time is what makes us amazing machines.

What’s totally natural…and what’s not.

We hear this term alot…..it’s NATURAL. This means no chemicals, or as natural as can be. Just like our body…. it’s NATURAL. When it comes to addressing PAIN or any other unpleasant symptom that appears within ourselves, it’s important to consider first that our bodies are in fact…. NATURAL. And not just natural, but amazing because we are equipped with the most effective systems of maintaining our life’s well-being such as an Immune System, Nervous System, Endocrine System, Respiratory System, etc. All designed to sustain our well being and existence.

Specifically……PAIN for example. It’s said “The body can’t heal what it can’t feel”. Our body is equipped naturally to address pain, protect and heal it through our many effective body systems… but how? Through circulation. Circulation is how these systems in our body function along with the food and liquids we intake and the air we breath. It’s so simple, but our systems are so intricately balanced, powerful and effective to defend, and heal pain and injury we might experience. The side-effects of natural healing are just that–NATURAL. An example:

You twist your ankle, your muscles flex from the pain, and swelling/inflammation occurs at the affected area in your ankle to protect the damage of tissue or ligament. Your body is telling you to stop using the ankle, and protecting it all in a matter of minutes. Your adrenaline rises and stress hormones are released before endorphins (the natural pain killer we produce) eventually make their way into the body. Other muscles in your legs and hips and back compensate for the loss of use from the ankle twist, and your nervous system is now in “Fight or Flight” mode. As incredible as our bodies are, it could always use help in it’s self sustaining power, and that is circulation.

Circulation is NATURAL. Massage Therapy. The results: your nervous system goes into “Rest and Digest” mode. The more you relax, the better your body functions in healing itself… naturally.

When we are taking prescription medication, or even over-the-counter meds for example-to treat PAIN… these are medications that chemically reduce symptoms such as inflammation, adrenaline levels and increasing the relaxation levels such as seratonin and the endorphin-pain-fighters… In some cases we all have to take medications, just be aware that the cons of taking so many or high quantities for a long period of time for pain, are liver damage, and unpleasant side-effects that cause a domino-like-effect to the other systems in your body that maintain your proper balance and behavior. We’ve all heard them (dizziness, nausea, nervousness, drowsiness, hallucination, addiction, even suicidal thoughts!), and the drug companies (required by law) must reveal them. In most cases it’s pretty much a more miserable condition to be in, than before the medication is administered, and in some cases pretty scary.

Reiki is not Ancient.

Reiki is not ancient.

It’s either modern (a practice started by Mikao Usui in the 1920s in Japan), or it’s timeless (if by Reiki, you mean the unified field, source, primordial consciousness, pure awareness, great mystery, whatever you call that all-pervasive, unending reality to which we connect when we practice Reiki).

Using the term Reiki without specifying what comes after it (Reiki treatment, Reiki practice,  Reiki sensations, Reiki state, etc.) leads to confusion, especially when we’re addressing people who are new to the practice.

But no matter how you look at it, Reiki is not ancient.

It’s right here,
right now,
as you place your Reiki hand.

Thirst and Dehydration

Thirst we all know is our body telling us we need water…duh! But do you know the specifics of how? We are supposed to have about 64 ounces of water a day, to help our bodies maintain optimum health- and while this is optimal daily, since our body is made up of nearly 80% of water–it’s our amazing organs like the Kidneys and Large Intestines that handle the job of storing and regulating our supply! The kidneys regulate water in our body through the help of the Pituitary Gland, which will control the ADH hormones that tell the kidneys when to release water to our bladder and or recycle the water into our blood if there is a shortage. The large intestines actually will store water both from our nutrition and water intake…

Thirst doesn’t necessarily mean you’re dehydrated. “Thirst begins when the concentration of [substances in the] blood has risen by less than 2 percent, whereas most experts would define dehydration as beginning when that concentration has risen by at least 5 percent,” notes Hess-Fischl.

Muscle cells require enough water, glucose, sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium to allow the proteins within them to interact and develop an organized contraction. Abnormal supply of these elements can cause the muscle to become irritable and go into spasm.

Dehydration occurs when your body loses too much fluid. This can happen when you stop drinking water or lose large amounts of fluid through diarrhea, vomiting, sweating, or exercise. Not drinking enough fluids can cause muscle cramps. You may feel faint. Usually your body can reabsorb fluid from your blood and other body tissues. But by the time you become severely dehydrated, you no longer have enough fluid in your body to get blood to your organs, and you may go into shock, which is a life-threatening condition.

As a side note however, perpetual thirst one may have, is a sign of possible health issues such as Diabetes, excessive bleeding, or other causes and should be brought to your physician’s attention.

The Human Voice…

In spite of all our communication technology, nothing is as effective than the sound of the human voice. When we hear it, we instinctively want to listen. Even when a speaker is stumbling or searching for the right word, even when all we hear is crying or yelling or singing… because the human voice resonates differently from anything else in the world. That’s why we can hear the sound of a singer’s voice over the sound of an orchestra… we always hear the sound of the singer no matter what surrounds it.  -Jake, Touch on FOX

•It takes the interaction of 72 different muscles to produce human speech.

•If you yelled for 8 years, 7months and 6 days you will have produced enough sound energy to heat up a cup of coffee.

Foot Massage in April!

The Deal with your feet…

Think about them for a few seconds, your feet… they serve you each day by getting you where you want to go and do. Walking, running, standing, turning, stopping, kicking, twisting and whatever else you might be doing. 3 out of 4 people will experience foot problems in their lifetime and it’s no wonder with all they go through for us.

Your feet mirror your general health. Conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, nerve and circulatory disorders can show their initial symptoms in the feet – so foot ailments can be your first sign of more serious medical problems.

Some general facts about feet:
• 1/4 of all the bones in the human body are down in your feet.
• The average person takes 8,000 to 10,000 steps a day,
which adds up to about 115,000 miles over a lifetime.
That’s enough to go around the circumference of the earth four times.
• Women have about four times as many foot problems as men.
High heels are partly to blame.
• Walking is the best exercise for your feet.

Massage therapy promotes circulation and eases the 19 muscles in each foot. Muscles not just in the foot but in the lower leg contribute to the well-being of the feet, and massage addresses them as well as up the leg and to the hip and back and neck! Avoid the injury and wear on your feet by choosing the most natural and effective approach to maintaining the operation of your feet and overall well-being. No drugs or weird side-effects– Massage Therapy… you don’t have to be on vacation to get one!
